When you call us to make an appointment, you will have an opportunity to talk directly with one of our friendly neurological physiotherapist. Please feel completely free to ask questions to understand how we can best help you. We will also ask you some questions to make sure we are the service for you.
After you make an appointment, we will send you an email to confirm the details of your visit and provide you with some forms to complete. It is helpful if you could please complete these forms before your first visit and either send them back to us via email or bring them with you on the day. Don’t worry if you forget, we will have some copies available. Also, if you have any relevant medical records or imaging results, bring these along with you too. Our aim is to spend as much time on your assessment and treatment as possible during your visits.
We recommend you wear loose clothing and a comfortable pair of shoes for your visit. Depending on the reason for your visit, there may be a need for us to observe your movement patterns by exposing the relevant body part. Of course, if you do not wish to do so, we will work with you to find other ways.
Your journey with us starts with a comprehensive hour long assessment and treatment completed by one of our knowledgeable neurological physiotherapists. This visit can be conducted at one of our clinics or in the comfort of your own home. Subsequent visits can continue to be in our clinic or in your home, or they can be conducted at any community site including but not limited to gyms and pools.
During this first hour consultation, you can expect:
If we believe neurological physiotherapy is unable to address your problem, you can be sure that our honest therapists will tell you upfront and let you know who we believe are best placed to care for you.
We believe you should feel and see the difference during your treatment and rehabilitation program. Photos are also a helpful way to detail complex home exercise programs or carer training programs to ensure you don’t forget the handling and movement for optimal rehabilitation. We may ask for your consent to take some photos and videos during our consultations.
Don’t worry, these videos and photos will be stored securely on our clinical system, the same way we look after any clinical documentation.
After an initial consultation, our neurological physiotherapists can write to your health professional team and your GP to inform them of the consultation and initiate discussion to support your care. Our neurological physiotherapists may suggest a recommendation or additional referral, or to inform them of your progress and overall plan. This will assist a multidisciplinary and team-based approach to provide you with better care. Please indicate to us if you do not wish for this to occur.
